Homeowners on the Eastside are being encouraged to swap out their gas furnaces for energy-efficient heat pumps. The new “Make the Switch” campaign is aimed at households in Bellevue, Issaquah, Mercer Island, Kirkland and Redmond.
With their ability to provide both heating and cooling, heat pumps eliminate the need for energy-burning furnaces and air conditioners. Eastside households can save up to $6,400 when they make the switch. In a win-win situation, those residents deciding to swap out their existing HVAC systems will be connected with contractors who will assist them in stacking rebates from Puget Sound Energy and heat-pump manufacturer Mitsubishi with credits through the federal Inflation Reduction Act.
Additionally, if a household earns $190,000 or less annually, it may qualify for a $1,500 rebate from Energy Smart Eastside, an energy climate partnership between the five Eastside cities. Visit the partnership’s website to learn more.
