Pride month is a time for celebrating the diverse identities and communities that contribute so much to our region. Whether you’re a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community or a staunch ally, here are some upcoming Pride events where you can show your true colors.
The focal point of Pride month, Seattle Pride is an explosion of color, life, identity and celebration. Due to Covid, the event will be virtual this year, but there’s still plenty to get excited about. Running from June 26-27, the event will feature musical guests, panels and interviews with a Mainstage and Second Stage to choose from. Notable guests this year include Mary Lambert, Big Freedia, Perfume Genius, mxmtoon and more. Check out the full schedule here.
This new exhibit coming to MoPop celebrates the history of the LGBTQ rights movement, tracing it back to its historic beginning at Stonewall. The exhibit aims to “explore the cultural transformation that propelled an underground movement into an intrinsic element of who we are as a nation” by featuring cultural touchstones, political battles and artists and activists who have defined the movement. The exhibit opens at MoPop on June 26. Find more information here.
For those who are ready to meet and celebrate in person, the Capitol Hill Pride Parade is ready for you. This in-person event will take place concurrently with Seattle Pride on June 26-27. The Capitol Hill event is free to attend, and will include a march and rally at Cal Anderson Park. The event will also feature live music and a talent show, as well as a remembrance of the Stonewall Anniversary. For more information, check out the Facebook event here.
